What are Grad Grams? Grad Grams are like a greeting card! They are a personalized way to inspire, congratulate, and remember our CHS graduates. Grad Grams are available for purchase in two different formats.
1) Grad Grams (blank) – purchase these for just $1.00 each.
Include a personalized message, decorate if you wish, and return it by the designated deadline.
2) Designer Grad Grams (decorated) – purchase these for just $3.00 each.
Various designs already ‘scrapbooked’ with embellishments, all you do is add your personalized message, and return it by the designated deadline.
Grad Gram individual pages are assembled into personalized booklets that are given to every graduating senior, along with their diploma, on Graduation day.
You can simply write your own personal message directly on the Grad Gram and sign it. Use pens, markers, calligraphy, or a stencil. You can also attach a photo, stickers or any other decoration to dress up or individualize the Grad Gram for your senior.
You can print a message or quote onto a separate piece of paper and attach it to the Grad Gram, or simply print directly onto the Grad Gram. Be as creative as you desire, as long as it conveys your thoughts and wishes! Most importantly, please include the FIRST and LAST name of the graduate. This can be under the general description and also included in the sample letters to friends/family.
CHS graduates love to receive Grad Grams from family members (parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins). Many families purchase Grad Grams early in order to mail them to relatives, who must return them prior to our May deadline so they are sure to be included in the Grad Gram booklet. It’s a great way for family members and friends that live far away to be a part of your child’s graduation!
There is a sample Grad Gram letter and mailing instructions available on the PTO website that you can use as a guideline (Click here to see sample letter). TIP: Mail Grad Grams with winter/spring Holiday Greetings or with Graduation Announcements.
Teachers, coaches, scout leaders, youth group leaders, church members, employers, professionals, neighbors and friends also enjoy giving Grad Grams to graduates! High school students are encouraged to give Grad Grams to their senior friends, classmates, and teammates!
Desire some creative assistance?
Purchase Designer Grad Grams! Fabulously hand-decorated for you in a variety of styles and themes - just add names and your personalized message! Available while supplies last at CHS school office or at special events.

The final turn in deadline for all Grad Grams is May 14th! Grad Gram books are then lovingly assembled by hand, by parent volunteers. The time frame between the assembly of the books and distribution at graduation is very tight, so late submissions will NOT be included. Most importantly, please include the FIRST and LAST name of the graduate. This can be under the general description and also included in the sample letters to friends/family.
Many families encourage out-of-town relatives and friends to mail Grad Grams to their graduate.
Below are sample letters that could be used to explain the Grad Gram process, along with a couple of tips on preparing your Grad Grams for mailing.
Use two 6” x 9” mailing envelopes.
Address envelope #1 to the out-of-town person. This envelope will contain an unfolded Grad Gram and a self-addressed, stamped return envelope. You may also wish to include a graduation announcement, party invitation or senior photograph.
Address envelope #2 to your home address. This will help you track returned Grad Grams. Including return postage on this envelope makes it easier for family and friends to send the completed Grad Gram back to you.
Provide an earlier return date than the school’s deadline. This will help ensure that all Grad Grams are in your possession before the final deadline. It will also allow time for follow-up on any non-returned Grad Grams.
Remember: The Grad Gram program is a SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER!. All proceeds are gifted back to CHS graduates in the form of scholarships. Only authentic Grad Gram pages can be accepted. Thank you for your support!
Dear Family &/or Friends,
XXXXX is going to be graduating from high school soon! June XX is his/her graduation day!
Our PTO puts together a memory book for each graduating senior, compiled of “Grad Grams”. Grad Grams are like a greeting card, a way to remember, congratulate or inspire new graduates. This keepsake is distributed on graduation day, immediately following the ceremony.
I/we want to surprise XXXXX with a Grad Gram from you, so I/we have enclosed a blank Grad Gram with the hope that you will fill it out for XXXXX’s booklet. You may include a simple hand-written message or if you feel inspired to be ‘creative’ – decorate it! Either way is greatly appreciated!
In order to include your personalized Grad Gram in XXXXX’s memory book, please return your unfolded copy by Wed. May 14th I/we have enclosed a pre-addressed, postage paid envelope for your convenience in mailing it back to me/us! If you have any questions, feel free to call, text or email.
Thanks so much for helping me/us with this little surprise!
Dear Family &/or Friends,
As you know, XXXXX is a senior and will be graduating soon!
Please find a Grad Gram enclosed. Grad Grams are a special way for family and friends to write something personal to the graduate…words of encouragement, congratulations, shared memories. Think of the Grad Gram as a scrapbook page or a card to wish the graduate well. Feel free to write, type, draw, decorate, or even attach a photo. Please don’t stress about it; a simple, heart-felt note would be most welcomed!
A committee of parent volunteers assembles the completed Grad Grams into personalized booklets for each graduating senior. This special memento will be presented to XXXXX immediately upon graduation, on June XX.
You have been instrumental in XXXXX’s life and are special to him/her, so your participation is greatly appreciated. XXXXX doesn’t know we are mailing this to you, so it will be a nice surprise on graduation day! Please return your unfolded Grad Gram in the enclosed pre-addressed, stamped envelope by Wed. May 14th to ensure inclusion in the booklet.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call, text or email. Thank you for your participation!
Copy & paste your version of the sample letter (examples above) into an email and distribute it electronically.
Include the Grad Gram size restriction of 4 ¾” x 8 ½” (this allows room for the punched holes at the top).
Recipient types a message or scans photos and/or their handcrafted creation and electronically sends it back to you.
Adhere their message/artwork to an official Grad Gram page, to be included in your graduate’s booklet.
Include an earlier return date than the school’s final turn-in deadline with students first AND last name!
There are many opportunities to help with Grad Grams! The Grad Gram committee is active all school year, with our biggest need for help during the spring semester. We can always use additional volunteers to assist us with selling Grad Grams at key events, as well as window displays; review day and assembly night.
Email one of us! We will be sure to get back to you.
