Welcome Educators!

Dave Carter's Classroom
This website is dedicated to supporting fellow teachers to develop stronger, more vital learning communities through mindfulness, restorative practices and rites of passage. I started this website as a resource to hold related resources that I and other teachers discover along the way. I hope that in your exploration you find things that inspire and inform your teaching.

I believe that teachers can cultivate a classroom in which students feel safe, disagreements are solved collaboratively, and students and teachers feel less stressed and more connected. The primary focus of this work, and the first step in building this type of classroom is the cultivation of mindfulness for the educator and students. Upon this foundation restorative practices and rites of passage can grow and thrive organically.

Please explore the website as it grows and contact me if you have any questions or related resources, or would like to talk about how they might fit into your class content or culture. I love these topics and invite conversations about how they are fast becoming part of the educational landscape. To learn more about me visit here.

To read about our CTE team who studied these approaches
this summer and implemented them this fall visit here.

To view the SLIDESHOW we put together about their learning
and some data to support their approaches visit here.
