About Me

Currently, I am serving as the Federal Projects Director and the Pre-Kindergarten Coordinator for the Cannon County School Board.  While I have been the Pre-K Coordinator for the past seven years, this is my fourth year to serve as Federal Projects Director.  However, my tenure with the Cannon County School System covers the past thirty-nine years.  My teaching experiences have spanned from first to sixth grade, and I have served as a classroom teacher, a Title I teacher, and as a Reading First Literacy Leader.  Before moving to the Central Office, I had the opportunity to be on staff at East Side Elementary and Woodbury Grammar.  It is my goal to be of service to teachers and families by assisting them in meeting the educational and developmental needs of all children.

Learning has always been my passion, and I continue to be a life long learner.  I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1975.  After working in the profession for twenty-five years, I decided to increase my knowledge base and enhance my professional skills by entering graduate school.  As a result, I received my Master’s Degree in 2002 and my Educational Specialist Degree in 2004.  Both of these degrees were awarded in Instructional Leadership and earned from Tennessee Tech University.  Then, I pursued a Doctor of Education Degree from Tennessee State University, and this degree was confirmed on August 9, 2008.

It is exciting to be a member of the Leadership Team serving the Cannon County Schools.  Specifically, my responsibilities revolve around:

  • Mentoring Teachers
  • Evaluating Teachers
  • Conducting Staff Development Workshops
  • Developing District & School Improvement Plans
  • Analyzing Test Data to Drive Instructional Decisions, and
  • Pre-K Student Enrollment
