About Me

Hello and Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

I am so excited to welcome you to our first grade classroom.  I have been teaching for eight years and this will be my sixth year teaching first grade. I am a Colorado native and I love being outdoors to enjoy skiing, camping, and hiking. My favorite place for skiing is Winter Park/Mary Jane, although I'll take a powder day anywhere! I also love to travel...I just got back from a wonderful European vacation this summer to France, England, Switzerland, and Italy. Very beautiful!

My friends and family are also important to me. I grew up in Colorado Springs, where my parents currently live with our very spoiled golden retriever, Lacey. I have a twin brother and older sister who are also in Education. I currently live in Denver where I enjoy the city lifestyle and I am only minutes from escaping to the mountains for work and outdoor fun.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Northern Colorado, where I also studied linguistically diverse education, bilingual education, and Spanish. Additionally, I hold a Masters of Education in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Regis University. I'm always looking for new and exciting professional development opportunities to sharpen my teaching skills. I am thrilled to be implementing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) at King Murphy, as this program challenges both students and teachers to maintain rigor and relevance in the classroom.
