Welcome Wildcats!

We are so excited to welcome students into our school on Monday, August 24. We know there are many questions as we enter into this school year. We are taking additional precautions to keep your student safe, as well as providing a highly engaging learning environment. Campbell County School District (CCSD) has been working with Governor Gordon, as well as local health officials to develop our district re-entry plan. Each elementary school has also developed a personalized school re-entry plan that can be found on our website. Below are a few topics that have been addressed by the district as we have developed our reopening plans.

In order to help with the cleanliness of our schools, each school will have a person hired as a sanitizer. The main purpose of this position will be to sanitize high touch/traffic areas on the playground and within the school (door handles, STEM labs, technology labs, bathrooms, etc.). These individuals will be in the building during the day with students and will allow our custodial staff to more effectively complete deep cleaning and sanitizing when students are not in the building.

Face Covering/Mask

Based upon the Governor’s orders and current health mandates, students and staff shall wear face coverings when social distancing can not be maintained within the school.

Technology Devices

CCSD has purchased new iPads for each elementary student. These are still property of CCSD and will be primarily used at school. If there is a need for a student to move to a remote learning environment or a classroom-based virtual platform for a short period of time, we will send their iPad home with him/her.

Campbell County School District is now using Schoology, an integrated learning management solution that provides course management, mobile learning, and support for system-wide communication. Schoology enables our students, parents and teachers to engage with learning materials and their school community from the classroom and beyond. We look forward to using Schoology in our classrooms to enhance connectivity and communication across CCSD. We will be sharing more information about Schoology as we get closer to the start of school.

Kindergarten Orientation

On Thursday, August 20th, from 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM, we will hold orientation for our Kindergarten families. This will give parents and students a chance to meet their teacher and become familiar with their classroom. They will also be able to drop off their child’s school supplies and complete any necessary paperwork. We ask that you only bring your child entering kindergarten and 2 parents so we are able to maintain social distancing. Please adhere to the following schedule:

Last Name A-C 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM

Last Name D-H 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Last Name I-M 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM

Last Name N-Z 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Open House for Families New to Wagonwheel

In order to limit the number of people in our school we will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, August 20th, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM for new families to our school. If you are new to Wagonwheel, please stop by during this time to meet your child’s classroom teacher, tour the school and drop off school supplies. Please feel free to call the office if you have any questions or are unable to make it during this time.

Mallo Camp

Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 and to keep our staff and students safe and healthy, CCSD has opted to move Mallo Camp for our 5th Grade students to the Spring of 2021. Our goal is to still provide this amazing opportunity for our 5th grade students but want to wait until we feel it is safe to take our students and staff to the environmental camp near Newcastle, Wyoming.

CCSD will provide swimming to 3rd through 6th grade students for five days. We feel it is important for our students to have this great opportunity while keeping our students and staff safe. One classroom per grade level will be on the bus, in the locker room and in the pool at a time so we can maintain social distancing. Students will most likely need to wear facial covering/mask while on the bus to and from the Aquatic Center because of the inability to social distance on the bus.

We have heard that many parents are concerned that students will not have recess. We know the importance of recess and we assure you, students will get recess throughout the day. The main focus is to limit the number of students on the playground and equipment at one time. We also want to be able to sanitize the high traffic playground equipment between grade level usage.

Based on Wyoming Department of Education recommendations and in order to ensure the greatest safety for all of our students, non-essential visitation by the general public will be limited. Entry will require credentials necessary for the Raptor system.
