The first place winners in the January American Scholastic Mathematics Association monthly contest are: Luke Puthumana and Michael Ro with Ryan Greene in second place.

Mary Ann Gavioli attended district-wide Professional Development for chairpersons presented by Lucy West.

Michael Ludwig, Suzanne Pritts and Maura Wright collaborated on Geometry resources aligned with the New York State Geometry Mathematics Standards during the January early release professional development time, while Meagan Bechard, Paula Shaffsick and Juliette Speckenbach collaborated on Algebra 2 curriculum planning and sequencing.

George Engel and Bruce Nickels worked together on updating the PreCalculus curriculum while Diana Colgan, John Guarino and Kerry Papenmeyer developed resources for Algebra 1 regents review materials.

Carol Havdala and Jeanne Lakowski worked on Algebra2 skill lessons and assessments during the early release professional development time period.

The January issue of Mad About Mu was published and distributed by Editors Mia Dominick, Ryan Blinn and Shreya Barua. Mary Ann Gavioli is the faculty advisor.

The Robotics Club continues to meet, plan and develop under the leadership of Bruce Nickels and Meagan Bechard.

Meagan Bechard and Juliette Speckenbach prepared their Algebra 2 students for the January 2018 New York State Regents exam with 100% of the students passing the regents exam.

Mary Ann Gavioli and Debra Tarantino attended the mathematics subcommittee meetings of the District-wide Professional development committees.

Dave Mathew and Joanne Stirrup were awarded second and third place respectively in the 2017 New York State Mathematics Poster Contest sponsored by the New York State Association of Teachers of Mathematics.

Mad About Mu received a gold medal in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association critique of secondary and college publications for the 2016-17 issues of the publication. Mary Ann Gavioli is the advisor.

Students in honors mathematics courses taught by Meagan Bechard, Mary Ann Gavioli, John Guarino and Kerry Papenmeyer have submitted their mathematics research papers for review in the 2018 Greater New York Metropolitan Mathematics Fair to be held on April 29, 2018.
