Attention Students and Parents 2017-18...

posted Aug 26, 2017, 6:26 AM by Ann-Marie Sevastian

Hello!  I hope you've enjoyed your summers and I look forward to meeting you on the first day of school.  I'm excited about many new things I have planned for both 9R and Creative Writing.  Please know that I no longer use this website; we will only be using Google Classroom for all announcements, homework communication, handouts, etc.  On the first day, you'll get a syllabus with a class code.   And early next week, I'll post supplies here if you're looking to get a jump start.

Until's still summer!!!

Attention 2016-17 Students and Parents!

I no longer maintain this website as I use Google Classroom for all homework/classroom posts.  Our Classroom code is in the syllabus.  If you have lost the syllabus or are an interested parent, please email me for your child's class code.  Thank you!

Ms. Sevastian

Welcome Back!!!

English 9/9R

All Chalkboard notes from Friday are uploaded to Invictus webpage.  Review and complete your organizer.  Some examples are better than others; the examples should be specific examples from the source.

Then, select one of the questions for your essay topic and complete the handout "Thinking through my essay" for Monday.

Dear English 12H...

What a great day to write an essay!!! It's rainy, icy, yucky.  You can't drive to the mall.  You can't drive to Moe's.  Yes, since I don't have extra help today, I said you could hand it in Thursday.  But we're starting Picture of Dorian Gray tomorrow and you'll have reading/homework.  Don't leave it till the last minute!

Here's a solid plan:  Write it today.  Just get it done.  Tweak it tomorrow, Wednesday.  Come to extra help on Wednesday with your draft and hand it in Thursday.

12H Change in This Week's Schedule

Hello 12H, I have some changes that I think will make everyone happy.  For tomorrow, you will read 21-22 as planned and annotate the nature vs. nurture document.  Tomorrow, with your group, you will create discussion questions for Friday's Socratic seminar.  Yes, I am moving the vocab quiz to Monday; however, you will still finish the book for Monday.

12H - turnitin tip

posted Sep 28, 2014, 9:02 AM by Ann-Marie Sevastian

Both of your assignments should be in one document.  If you have two separate documents, copy and paste from one doc into the other.  If you didn't do that and now you are unable to submit the second assignment, just submit it to the double-entry journal assignment.  I will still find it.

I look forward to meeting you next Thursday!  This site will be "under construction" all week as I update and rearrange pages.  In the meantime, please remember to work on your summer reading.  You will be assessed on  two books from the grade-level summer reading list.  I will provide details about these assessments in the first few days of school.  However, know that if you complete the optional double-entry journal assignment for both books (typed - due 3rd day of school), you do not have to complete the assessments I assign.  See attached link for summer reading lists and optional double-entry journal assignment:

Please be sure your two books are on the approved list.
