Welcome families! I am so excited to be entering into my 21st year of teaching. This is will be my 11th year at Homestead. I can't wait to get started teaching science and social studies. I hope your kiddos enjoy it as much as I do.
Here's a little about myself for those of you who don't know me; I am a mother of 3. Eli is my oldest son. He will be a sophomore this year and just got his driver's license. My nerves will never be the same! Braxton, the middle child, will be in 8th grade this year and plays football for SMMS Panthers. Emary, my youngest, will be in 2nd grade and she absolutely loves school. My husband, Phillip, and I will celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary in October. He works for TN State Parks. As a family we enjoy, kayaking. My guys enjoy hunting and fishing. Emary and I enjoy DIY projects and crafting.
Sixth grade social studies and science are filled with many fun and exciting topics. We will begin our year by taking a trip back in time to when the cave men roamed the earth. Then we will travel over to Mesopotamia and see how the world's first civilization got rolling, literally. (They discovered the wheel.) After Mesopotamia we will travel into the world of pharaohs and mummies in Egypt, then on to India, China, Israel, Greece and Rome. I love teaching ancient history and my hope is to spark a love of history in your kids to keep them learning. I also teach science. We will be doing experiments and lots of hands on learning in science this year.
