1st, 2nd and 5th Period World History


Monday 8-7-2017: First Day of School!

Title: Welcome!

Materials: White board, power point.
Standards: A link to standards can be found at my home page.

Objectives:

TLW: Be introduced to World History. Go over syllabus. Review class rules. Introduce themselves to the class and teacher

Assessment: The World: Each student will use color pencils to create a map of the world based on their own knowledge. Teacher will assess how accurate students are when picturing the world in their minds. Class will discuss their maps.

Activities:Who Are You?: Students will complete a note card that explains a little about themselves.


Tuesday 8-8-2017

Title: Chapter 4: The Age of Exploration. Lesson 1: European Exploration and Expansion.

Materials: Whiteboard, powerpoint, notebook, text book.
Standards: A link to standards can be found at my home page.

Objectives:

TLW: Review rules of class and syllabus. Show materials for class. Discuss the motivations behind European exploration. Describe the routes and conquests of Portuguese and Spanish explorers. Describe the accomplishments of European explorers.

Assessment: Plickers: Students will take an exit slip quiz with Plickers to show their understanding of the lesson.

Wednesday 8-9-2017 

Title: Chapter 4 Lesson 1 Continued Group Day

Materials: White board, power point, notebook, textbook, writing boards.
Standards: A link to standards can be found at my home page.

Objectives:

TLW: how materials for class. Discuss the motivations behind European exploration. Describe the routes and conquests of Portuguese and Spanish explorers. Describe the accomplishments of European explorers.

Assessment:Students will use primary sources, notes, and their text books to create group visuals for lesson 1. Students will present their visuals to the class. Students that are not presenting will take notes and ask questions about the group projects. Topics to be covered: The Caravel, Gold, Glory, God, The Aztec, The Inca. Teacher will assess the groups and class based on participation.


Activities:Visuals: Students will present their visuals to the class.


Thursday 8-10-2017

Title: Chapter 4 Lesson 2: The First Global Economic Systems

Materials: white board, power point, notebook, text book.
Standards: A link to standards can be found at my home page.

Objectives:

TLW: Understand the places and regions involved in the Columbian Exchange and Slave Trade. Identify the causes and effects of European expansion into Africa.

Assessment: Students will participate in lecture and notes taking. Bell Ringer: Organize plants and animals by their place of origin. Students will engage in Bell Ringer to begin the lesson. Students will discuss answers to Bell Ringer. Misconceptions will be addressed. Vocabulary: Students will record vocabulary and discuss the meaning of each word. Students will tell, in their own words, what each means.

Activities: Plickers: Students will show understanding of the lesson by completing a Plickers quiz.

Friday 8-11-2017 

Title: Lesson 2 Continued Group Day

Materials: Pen or pencil, paper, white board, power point, writing boards.
Standards: A link to standards can be found at my home page.

Objectives:

TLW: Understand the places and regions involved in the Columbian Exchange and Slave Trade. Identify the causes and effects of European expansion into Africa.

Assessment: Students will work in groups to create cause and effect graphs for the Columbian Exchange and European expansion. Students will use primary sources to encourage their understanding of the causes and effects. Students will display their group work to the class. Teacher will assess groups based on participation.

Activities:Students will present their work to the class.
