Activities

The Adaptation Partnership initiated a Review of Current and Planned Adaptation Action in the fall of 2010. Its purpose is to provide a baseline understanding of who is doing what on adaptation in three developing regions—Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean—and in priority adaptation sectors. Based on available resources, it seeks to provide a rapid assessment of: priority interests and adaptation needs; efforts by governments to support adaptation though policy and planning; the scope of international support for adaptation efforts in different countries and sectors; and potential gaps in adaptation efforts at the country and regional levels. In total, 12 regional and 114 individual country profiles were completed and may be accessed here:

Andean-Asian Knowledge Exchange Field Expedition and Workshop Agenda: The first eight‐day workshop on “Adapting to a World without Glaciers‐‐Realities, Challenges, and Actions,” was sponsored by USAID and the National Science Foundationa and held in in July 2009 by the Mountain Institute (TMI) and other partners in Lima and Huaraz, Peru. The workshop participants included Peruvian and other Andean researchers, graduate students, and policymakers; international researchers and graduate students, primarily from the US; and ICIMOD. CAADP Climate-Smart Agriculture Program Design Workshop: Nairobi, Kenya October 24-27, 2011

CAADP Workshop AgendaClimate-Smart Agriculture Program Design Workshop Agenda. Nairobi, Kenya, October 24-27, 2011.

CAADP Workshop ContextKey CAADP Priorities: Over the past 18 months, 22 countries and one Regional Economic Community (REC) in Africa have developed detailed agriculture and food security strategies and investment plans within the framework of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). At least 20 of these have undergone, or are undergoing, a technical peer review process and are moving forward with program design and implementation. Recognizing the need for continued support during this critical period, the 7th CAADP Partnership Platform meeting, held in March 2011 in Cameroon, identified several key priorities for 2011. These priorities are: (1) sustaining CAADP implementation momentum in countries and RECs, (2) addressing CAADP’s Transformational Objectives, and (3) organizing expert support to countries for medium- to long-term strategic planning.
