Hello Mighty Cardinals,

Welcome back to another exciting year at St. Matthews K-8 School!  St. Matthews K-8 is an extraordinary school community.  As you walk onto the school campus you can feel the warmth of an inviting learning atmosphere. As always, we diligently strive for excellence based on the premise of Teaching and Learning, and use that culture of learning to empower and prepare children to compete and succeed globally.

There are many exciting things that are happening at our school during this transformational time in education.  Over the past two years, we have developed a Reading Plan that provides ninety minutes of uninterrupted reading instruction in grades K-8. We have STEM opportunities for students in seventh and eighth grades.  We use technology to drive research based instructional practices, and we continue to explore innovative leaning environments.

This upcoming school year will be among the best years ever at St. Matthews K-8 with our school and community working together.  There will be many opportunities for you to become engaged with our school.  We will have parent workshops that will engross you and your children academically and foster lifelong skills.  At St. Matthews K-8, we believe that Cardinal Character Counts! Thus, parents will have the opportunity to participate in activities at home with their children that promote character education skills.

As an administrative team, faculty, and staff, we are committed to doing what's best for children!

 Your administrative team,

Ms. Treda Keith, Principal

Dr. Melissa Peeples, Assistant Principal

From our K-8 family to yours....

Welcome back to another great year of "teaching and learning" at St. Matthews K-8!

Read with Cocky!
PreK-Second Graders enjoyed a FUN time of reading with Cock's Reading Express on Friday, September 1st! Several stories were shared and a "Promise to READ" was made by students with Cocky to read every day. Each student received a book from Cocky to take home. We are grateful  to be a part of this program because of SGE&G. Thank you Cocky for coming to READ with us and making reading fun!
