Winterpock Weekly Update - 6/10/18

posted Jun 10, 2018, 3:07 PM by Laura Prymak
Hi Winterpock Families! Happy last week of school! I cannot believe that this will be my final “Sunday Email” for the 2017-2018 school year! I just cannot say this enough, THANK YOU for sharing your children with us each day and for ALL of your support! It has been a FANTASTIC school year! Follow me on Twitter (@WPESPrincipal) to see photos highlighting our #WPESwolves as we close out the school year! We look forward to an excellent week thirty-eight of school with your children!

*Overflow Parking for this Week: We expect a high volume of parents this week due to the many events. If you cannot find a parking space, please go to the bus loop for overflow parking. We will need for you to park in the middle of the loop instead of along the curb. This will allow buses to enter the loop at the end of the day. NO cars can enter or exit the bus loop while buses are actively loading and unloading students. Thanks for your patience as we work through this together!

*Kroger Community Rewards Program: We have joined the Kroger Community Rewards Program! To join, go to krogercommunityrewards.com to select Winterpock as you school. You will need to sign in or create an account. Once you are logged in, you will need the number from your Kroger Plus Card to complete the process. It takes a few minutes to attach our school! You will earn rewards for our school each time you swipe your Kroger Plus Card! That’s it! It will cost you nothing, and Kroger will support our school! (We will all need to sign up again in August as you have to select a school annually.) Just thought I would put this out to our community now, so that we can earn through July! Thanks for your support!

*Additional Teacher Movement for the 2018-2019 School Year: We wanted to inform you that Ms. Guilliams is excited about transitioning to 5th Grade CBG next year! (As of right now, we are only projected to have one 3rd Grade CBG section.) Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Ogburn (Oddo), and Ms. Guilliams are looking forward to teaming together!

*5th Grade Closing Ceremony: The 5th Grade Closing “Promotion” Ceremony will be on Wednesday, June 13th at 9:00 a.m. in the Cosby High School Auditorium. Students will need to arrive at 8:30 a.m. Please contact your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions. Thank you!

*Early Dismissal on Friday, June 15th: Friday, June 15th will be an early release day with dismissal at 11:45 a.m.

*News from the Cafeteria: Attached is the lunch calendar for the week. As of right now, there are no changes! Also, please note that students will not eat lunch in the cafeteria on Tuesday due to the 5th Grade Party. As in the past and due to the early release, no lunch will be served on Friday, June 15th. Please feel free to send in a “heavy” snack for your child to enjoy in the classroom that is peanut & tree-nut free. June Menu 2018.pdf

*Final Report Cards: Final report cards will be sent home on Friday, June 15th. If your child is not at school on this day, please know that a hard copy of the report card, as well as any personal belongings, will be in the school office. Please stop by and retrieve these! Thank you!

*STEAM Update: Attached you will find a newsletter from Mrs. Prymak and Mrs. Simpson. See what our students learned in May and June! Thanks for continuing to support our STEAM Lab! Winterpock May & June STEAM Newsletter.pdf

*Summer Office Hours: From Monday, June 18th through Thursday, August 24th, our school office will be open on Mondays-Thursdays from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The school and division offices will be closed on Fridays during this timeframe.

*Volunteer Application: The CCPS Volunteer Application is now an online application! Paper applications will no longer be used. If you have already submitted a paper application for the current school year (2017-2018), you do not need to do anything at this time. If you have not filled an application and plan to volunteer for a school or PTA function for the remainder of this school year, please go here to access the online application. This link will also be added to our school website! All volunteer applications will now be screened through the CCPS Office of Safety & Security.
