Winterpock Weekly Update - 4/29/18

posted Apr 29, 2018, 5:18 PM by Laura Prymak
Hi Winterpock Families! Last week was wonderful! Our 3rd graders performed their “Jungle” Musical and hosted their Wetlands PBL Expo, our students enjoyed eating donuts with their moms, we celebrated Kylie and Kendall at the CCPS Student of the Year Banquet, and our B.O.B. “Bookpack” team won their school competition! Follow me on Twitter (@WPESPrincipal) to see photos highlighting our #WPESwolves throughout the week! We look forward to a terrific week thirty-two of school with your children!

*Teacher Appreciation Week: Many thanks to our PTA for organizing this special week, April 30th-May 4th! Attached you can see what they have planned. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our wonderful staff! Winterpock Teacher Appreciation 2018.pdf

*PTA Spirit Night: Our next Chick-fil-a Spirit Night is tomorrow, Monday, April 30th! Proceeds will support our 4th grade team!

*Core Value Breakfast: We look forward to recognizing our April Core Value students on Friday, May 4th at 7:45 a.m. Many thanks to our PTA for providing the breakfast!

*School Communication: Thank you so much for all of your positive feedback about our Sunday emails! It has come to our attention that some families may not be receiving these emails. Please help us spread the word and let other families know that they can contact the office to have their email updated or added. (If a family previously “opted out” or “blocked” an email from the school, we can have this fixed!) Also, all of my emails are posted on the school website under “Recent Announcements.” You can also find my Twitter feed on the school website by clicking on the “School Information” tab! Remember, you can find official communication from Winterpock via our school website, school emails, our PTA website, and Official PTA Facebook page. Other “unofficial” sites or pages may not contain accurate information. Please let us know if we can assist you with anything!

*Optional Waiver Process Reminder: This is just a reminder regarding the email that was sent last Friday. Attached you will find a letter describing an optional waiver process that is being offered to Winterpock families by CCPS for the 2018-2019 school year. You will also see the memo that is linked in the letter. If you choose to “waiver” your child to another school due to the increased enrollment at Winterpock, your written request is due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4th. Again, this process is being presented by CCPS as merely an option. We will continue to provide the very best learning opportunities for your child at Winterpock! *Student Placement for the 2018-2019 School Year: The time for organizing class assignments for next year is right around the corner! During the months of May and June, teachers, support staff, and administrators will be working on establishing class groups for the next school year. This process is extremely collaborative and thoughtful! We factor in many variables as we strive to find the right “fit” for all students. If you feel the need to provide additional information about your child’s learning needs for the 2018-2019 school year, please send an email or letter to Karen Dubiel, Principal, on or before Friday, May 4th. Although specific teacher requests cannot be guaranteed, we appreciate your input regarding the instructional qualities and type of environment your child thrives in, as well as, notification of any student relationship challenges that may impact your child’s learning. Thank you for partnering with us to provide the very best learning environment for all of our students!

*SOL Testing Calendar: Attached is the SOL Testing Calendar for our 3rd-5th grade students. The Official SOL Testing Window opens during the week of May 7th. We will need volunteers to assist us with monitoring bathrooms during testing. Look for a sign-up to be emailed this week! If your child will be absent on a testing day, please email Mrs. Bare at natalie_bare@ccpsnet.net. Thank you! SOL Testing Calendar.pdf
