Winterpock Weekly Update - 4/14/19

posted Apr 14, 2019, 3:07 PM by Laura Prymak
Hi Winterpock Families! Last week was busy as we began our final quarter of the 2018-2019 school year! We welcomed 172 of our rising Kindergartners, had a blast at our PTA Family Fun Night, and showcased our talented students at the CCPS Fine Arts Festival! Follow me on Twitter (@WPESPrincipal) to see photos highlighting our #WPESwolves throughout the week! We look forward to an outstanding week thirty-one of school with your children!

Here are a few updates and reminders:

*No School: There will be NO school on Friday, April 19th for students or teachers. Our school office will be closed.

*Report Cards: Report cards will come home on Monday, April 22nd.

*On Behalf of the Midlothian High School Annual IB International Festival: We are writing to invite everyone in Chesterfield County to the Annual IB International Festival hosted by the International Baccalaureate Program at Midlothian High School! Students, families, and local businesses all contribute to make our Festival a fantastic experience for everyone. This is a family friendly event to experience cultures from around the world. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. on April 18th, 2019. Attendees can try a buffet of cultural food, visit our student and professional art gallery, see cultural booths from Spain, Germany, and France, and experience cultural performances in our auditorium — all for just $5 per person. Our multicultural performances include: a taekwondo demonstration, a salsa dance, and a performance by Chesterfield County student and American Idol contestant, Shayy Winn. A percentage of proceeds from the event will benefit The Mustard Seed Foundation, an organization that builds schools for underprivileged communities in India. International Festival 2019.pdf

*A Message from Mrs. Witham & Mrs. Robinson: Greetings from the Library! We are excited to let you know that students who have purchased an April or May Birthday Book will come to the library on Monday, April 29th to celebrate in our Birthday Book Club. If you have not sent in a form yet and would like to participate, there is still time! Please turn in the attached form on or before Monday, April 22nd if you would like for your child to participate in the April-May Birthday Book Celebration. Thanks for your support! *Kiwanis “K-Kids” Update: Thanks to many of you, our front hallway is covered in shamrocks to support Ben and MDA! We raised $1,700! Thanks so much for your generosity! Please continue to collect and send in aluminum can tabs to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Richmond.

*Donuts with Mom: Donuts with Mom is next week! See the PTA section below for specific information!

*Papa John’s Pizza Teacher Delivery Night: Our PTA is partnering with Papa John’s and many of our teachers will be delivering pizza on Tuesday, May 7th! Attached is the flyer that came home. The link to order pizza for this special night is here! Classrooms will be competing for prizes for their teachers. Classrooms that have 65% participation will earn a class pizza party! If you have multiple students, you can list them all under one order and all of their teachers will get credit for participation. There are many other prizes that teachers will be competing for including most tips collected the night of the fundraiser. (Feel free to hold your tip for the actual delivery night versus including it online.) Teachers will deliver to any location within the Papa John’s delivery zone. If you live outside of this zone, feel free to opt for carryout. Teachers will be on site to greet your children! This is a FUN fundraising event for our staff and students! 20% of all sales and 100% of all tips will be donated to our school! Thanks for your support! Winterpock Papa John's TDN 2019.pdf
