Winterpock Update - We had a GREAT day! ...until...

posted Sep 5, 2018, 3:46 AM by Laura Prymak
Hi Winterpock Families! We absolutely had a GREAT day with your children! It was so nice to see all of their smiling faces! (I was able to briefly visit each classroom today which made me smile!)

Again, it was a GREAT day...until..dismissal! In fact, our last few students were just picked up from school around 6:45 p.m. (Many thanks to the parents from Route 3 for your patience and support!)

Several of you are questioning how dismissal could have been this terrible. Here are a few things that we want to share with you...

At 3:45 p.m., we only had one bus in our loop. Yes, one bus! Mrs. Malcolm and I made the decision to keep students in their classrooms with their teachers until at least half of our buses arrived. Students did not load buses until 16 of our 19 buses had arrived. We did not want children standing outside in the heat or sitting on the bus for an extended period of time. Our buses left at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Car riders and day cares were sent to the gym at 3:45 p.m., but it took awhile to get the car loop moving as this is a new process for many students. (This will be much quicker tomorrow! I'm working on a plan right now to expedite this! It will be better tomorrow!)

These things paired with many other unforeseen transportation issues made this afternoon very difficult for everyone. We are frustrated for you!

Please know that we are doing everything that we can at Winterpock to perfect the procedures that we can control. I will send an email againtomorrow letting you know when the buses depart. Thank you again for your support as we work together to get all 1,200 children home safely! Thank you again for sharing your wonderful children with us each day!

Fondly,

Karen Dubiel, Principal
