I am thrilled to be joining the Wolfpack in the role of assistant principal. I have lived in Chesterfield County for the majority of my life and am a graduate of Chesterfield County Public Schools. I attended VCU where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Master’s of Teaching and most recently a Post-Master’s in Educational Leadership. Though I am a proud graduate of VCU, I am a devoted Virginia Tech fan! GO HOKIES! I began my teaching career at Winterpock Elementary School where I taught 4th and 5th grade for the past 7 years before entering into my new role.
Ms. Cooper, principal of Winterpock Elementary, joined the Winterpock School community in the fall of 2011. Ms. Cooper previously served as the principal of Matoaca Elementary for four years. Prior to being at Matoaca she served as the assistant principal at Bellwood Elementary and Spring Run Elementary. Prior to becoming a school administrator, Ms. Cooper was a fifth grade teacher at AM Davis Elementary school. In 1997, Ms. Cooper returned to the teaching profession after spending time at home raising her two children Blair and Raleigh Cooper. Ms. Cooper received her Master’s degree from George Washington University.
Ms. Cooper traveled and lived in Europe during her childhood. She had the opportunity to study at international schools where she experienced different cultures and educational expectations. She continues to enjoy traveling abroad and vising the beach in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Ms. Cooper also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Ms. Cooper has a passion for learning and believes all children can achieve with the support of a strong home and school partnership. Ms. Cooper is looking forward to a productive and successful 2016-2017 school year at Winterpock Elementary.
I enjoy spending time at the baseball/softball fields cheering on my son and daughter. I have a large extended family and spend as much time with them as a possible. When not busy with my family and children, I love to read, run and relax by the water.
I am looking forward to working with the Winterpock community, staff, teachers and families in inspiring our students to become lifelong learners who make positive contributions to society in our ever changing world!
I am very excited to be the new administrative assistant at Winterpock. For the past five years I have taught here in both 5th grade CBG and 4th grade. I also taught 4th and 5th grade in Richmond City and Chesterfield County for 10 years before staying home with my twin daughters for seven years. I am originally from Long Island, NY and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College. After teaching for several years, I earned my Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from VCU.
The majority of my free time is spent at my daughters’ dance studio, watching my girls perform with their middle school dance team or volunteering at the local children’s theater group they are involved in. I do carve out time every day to read though. There is nothing better than getting caught up in a good book. I also love Disney and it’s my family’s number one vacation spot.
I am really looking forward to working with the students, staff and families of Winterpock in my new role. It’s going to be a great year!
