Message from the PTA Green Team

One easy way you can help JB Watkins cut down on unnecessary waste is to encourage your children to stop throwing away uneaten food. Each day, staff members and parent volunteers see children throwing away full bags of fruits and vegetables, uneaten sandwiches, unopened Lunchables, full applesauce cups, bags of chips, and even bags of cookies — sometimes just purchased from the lunch line! Many of these items could easily and safely be eaten at a later time. If your children do not finish their lunches, would you like them to bring the leftovers home? If so, talk to them about that! Bringing leftovers home not only helps cut down on unnecessary waste in landfills, it could also help save you money and spark a conversation about packing less food or providing alternative options.

Mark your calendars for our 2nd annual Celebration of Learning Night! The event will take place on May 9th, from 6-8pm. Safety Reminder:

For the safety of all students please DO NOT release students from cars until 9:15am at parent drop off in the morning.  Our teachers and staff are in meetings or planning and there isn't any supervision until the bell rings at 9:15am. We appreciate your help keeping all students safe.

In the afternoons, at parent pick-up, please do not park on the right side (nearest the library) of the driveway.  You may park at the public library or in the parking lots. This will help make sure traffic is not blocked and all students and parents are safe in our parking lot.

How should students decorate their color wheel? Be creative!  Almost any type of material can be used (paint, glue, glitter, sew, fabric, etc.). You can even use found object to fill in your color wheel. Remember each section of the color wheel should be a different color. Include the primary colors (red, yellow, & blue) as well as the secondary colors (orange, green, & purple). Patterns, designs and drawings done in various colors would be awesome! ***Please cut out the circles before turning in!  Completed wheels are due tomorrow.

Thank you for your support as always!
