Emily Castle-Dunn is a Virginia native, with a Bachelor’s from VCU, a Master’s in opera from GMU and a Master’s from GCU in Education. Emily is fluent in French and German, as she started out teaching as a language assistant in France, working in disadvantaged public French schools. She also lived in Dresden, Germany for five years where she worked as a freelancer, teaching English as a Second Language to all ages, from children to adults. She has taught English and music in international schools here in the States and spends her summers working with international high schoolers who are getting ready to apply to college. In her spare time she loves to write, sing, and travel.

My name is Alexis Manuel, and I am one of the ESOL teachers here at Thomas Dale. While I don’t speak Spanish, I do speak German, so I know what it is like to be in our kids’ shoes. I am a Longwood University graduate, and this is my first year at Thomas Dale. As part of a small diverse group, I enjoy seeing noticeable differences as my students grow in the language.

I am a Manchester High School graduate, and I am proud to give back to the county that gave me a chance. Every student deserves to be understood, and that is why I am here.

Since life doesn’t come with subtitles, I am excited to help you navigate the English language
