Dr. David S. Ellena - Principal

    Dr. Ellena has been in public education for 30 years. He started as a Physical Education teacher in Prince George County in September of 1985. Dr. Ellena taught Health and Phys. Ed. for 14 ½ years at JEJ Moore Junior High School, Midlothian Middle School, LC Bird High School and Falling Creek Middle School. During that time, he coached football and baseball at Monacan High School, LC Bird High School and Meadowbrook High School, and coached indoor track for two years at LC Bird High.

Dr. Ellena got his first assistant principal position in January of 2000 at Midlothian Middle School. He served in the same position at Swift Creek Middle School for three years, and held the same position at Providence Middle School for three years. This is his fifth year serving as the Principal of Tomahawk Creek Middle School. He is also active in the Virginia Association of Secondary Schools Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, having served on the Board of Directors for both organizations.

Dr. Ellena received his Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University, his Masters degree from Virginia State University and his doctoral degree from Virginia State University as well.

            Dr. Ellena has been married for 30 years. His wife, Nancy, is the Office Manager at Davis Middle School. They have a son, Billy, who graduated with two degrees in accounting from Virginia Tech and is currently working for Price Waterhouse Cooper in Richmond, and a daughter, Rachel, who is a senior studying Political Science and Psychology at Virginia Tech.

Mrs. Rebecca Thompson - Associate Principal

Mrs. Rebecca Thompson is the 8th grade administrator.  She taught math for 12 years with 8 of those years being at Tomahawk Creek.  She attended James Madison University and fell in love with teaching when she would substitute during her summer breaks.  She then went on to get her Master's Degree in Administration at the University of Richmond.  She and her husband, Carl, have a son and a daughter; Tripp, who will be starting 2nd grade this fall and Collins who is 3.  When she isn't being an administrator or a mom, she is either swimming, running or relaxing.

Dr. Ronald Atkinson - Assistant Principal


Dr. Atkinson earned his undergraduate (Government) and master's degrees (Educational Administration) at the College of William & Mary, and he earned his doctorate (Educational Leadership) at Virginia Commonwealth University. This marks Dr. Atkinson's twenty-ninth year in public education and his fourteenth year in Chesterfield County Public Schools. He previously served CCPS as an assistant principal at Carver MS, Robious MS, and Providence MS. He is extremely proud to be a part of the Timberwolf leadership team.

Charlee Breeden - Assistant Principal

Charlee Breeden is a proud Hokie and received her undergraduate degrees in English and Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Tech. She then received her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University and received her Certification in Administration from The University of Richmond. This is her second year at Tomahawk Creek and she is so excited to be the 7th grade administrator this year for the Tomahawk Creek Timberwolves. When Charlee is not learning or leading, you can find her taking her two dogs Natty and Ace on outdoor adventures with her husband Jeb. 


Reshaud Johnson - Dean of Students

Reshaud grew up in Farmville Virginia and graduated from Prince Edward County Public Schools. He attended college at Virginia State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education in 2007. He then received his Master’s Degree in School Counseling in 2013 from Virginia State University. He is currently enrolled in George Washington University’s Educational Leadership program. His career in education began in 2007 as a Special Education teacher in the alternative school setting. After working many years in alternative education, Mr. Johnson spent four years as a school Counselor at Harrowgate Elementary School. For the 2016-2017 year, he was named “Teacher of the Year”. Mr. Johnson is a devoted husband and father of two children - Nyla, 6 and Eian 3.
