Welcome to Spring Run Elementary School and our wonderful school family.  Our entire school community is dedicated and focused on providing an engaging and relevant education that prepares our students to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world.  We work together with students, parents, staff and community partnerships to help our students achieve academic success.

I have been the principal of this school since July 1, 2013.  Previously, I was the principal of J.A. Chalkley for six years.  Before working in Chesterfield County I was an elementary school principal for three years in Wallingford, CT, an elementary school assistant principal in Lincoln, RI and an elementary classroom teacher in grades 5, 4, 2 and Kindergarten in CT and PA for thirteen years.  I graduated with my administrative degree from the University of CT, my masters degree is in elementary education from Boston University and my undergraduate degree is from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  I currently reside in Midlothian with my wife, four children and our dog Max.  I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, music, and travel.

At Spring Run we make decisions based on the best interests of children.  We believe children need and deserve opportunities to learn and grow academically, emotionally, socially.  If you have any questions that I can help you with please contact me at 639-6352 or via email at christopher_hart.

I am thrilled to be joining the Husky team in the role of Assistant Principal. I have been an educator in Chesterfield County for the past 15 years. I taught at Falling Creek Elementary and most recently Woolridge Elementary. I attended Wilkes University and earned Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Elementary Education. I received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.

I have twin six year old boys with my amazing wife Jen, also a Chesterfield teacher. We spend most of our time together outdoors camping, playing sports, traveling, and working in the garden. When I am not busy with my family I can be found coaching, golfing, hunting, or most likely, on the water fishing.

My passion for elementary education allows me to live by the motto “Work hard...Play hard.” Spring Run Elementary is the perfect fit! Clearly the students, parents, staff and administration have created a fun, effective learning environment. I appreciate the opportunity to be part of this school culture. I bring a strong moral compass that is rooted in doing what is best for students. My goal is to support this community in getting the most out of each and every child.

Open and honest communication is a valuable part of public education, let me know if I may ever be of assistance.

I am entering my eighteenth year as an educator.  I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in a variety of settings in Maryland, Stafford County, and here in Chesterfield County. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Lee University (College) in Tennessee and my Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University (Portland).  I achieved National Board Certification in 2009.

My husband and I will celebrate our 27th anniversary this year. We raised three daughters.  Our oldest resides in Richmond and is the mother of our grandson.  Our middle daughter attends Texas A&M University and serves in the Air Force Reserves.  Our youngest daughter is attending my alma mater in Tennessee.

I joined the Husky team in 2007 as a fourth-grade teacher, and am excited to begin my new role as Dean of Students supporting students, teachers, and parents across the entire school as we inspire, imagine, and innovate together.
