Salem offers a wide variety of Special Education services that include individualized/specialized education for children with Learning Disabilities; Emotional Disabilities; Other Health Impairments; Autism; Moderate Intellectual Disabilities; early childhood and Speech and Language Impairments.

The Special Education Department of Salem Church Elementary acknowledges and supports the importance of individualizing all educational experiences.  There are many levels of instruction to meet the needs of our diverse students.  Children are included in general education classrooms with great success.  The Collaborative Teaching Model is in place within these classrooms.  This allows teachers to meet the needs of the individual students in these classrooms.

Each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team, of which the parents are important members, works toward fostering each child’s development of a positive self-concept and identity within his/her school environment.  We anticipate providing our students with the tools to become self-sufficient, contributing members of our society.
