School Psychologist

School Psychologists have specialized training in both psychology and education.  They use their training and skills to team with educators, parents, and other professionals to ensure that every child learns in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment.  The School Psychologist provides a variety of services:

  • Evaluations - individual testing of a students general level of intellectual functioning, learning style, and social/emotional development.
  • Counseling - short term, situational focused counseling which centers on problems that have an impact on a student's educational progress.  This is not therapy to deal with clinical or medical disorders.
  • Consultation - meetings with parents, guardians, teachers, administrators, and/or students in an effort to make recommendations that will help the student benefit from their educational program at school.
  • Resource Person - assist in referrals or suggestions for community services and resources.

School Social Worker

School Social Workers serve as liaisons between the home and the school.  School Social Workers assist with the assessment of students suspected of having disabilities, provide short-term/crisis counseling, and inform parents about resources in the community to address any problem interfering with their child’s learning.
