Teacher of the Year

Congratulations Sandra Judge-Harden!
Providence Middle School Teacher of the Year 2017

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. where I attended elementary school at P.S. 129, middle school at JHS 117 and graduated from Eli Whitney Vocational High School.  While attending City College of New York, I worked in Banking and Insurance.  After marrying my childhood sweetheart and having our first child, a job transfer allowed us to move to Richmond, VA. in 1989.

In 2004, while working at BB&T bank, I volunteered as a mentor through the Junior Achievement program. Here is where I came in contact with the “teaching bug”.  I was given the task of spending an hour each week with 8th graders.  I enjoyed teaching the skills needed to balance checkbooks, to speak and dress during mock interviews and how to complete job applications.

I joined Chesterfield  County Public Schools in May of 2005, as a substitute teacher at Providence Middle School.   As a career switcher, in August of 2005, I started as a special education teacher under a 3 year provisional teaching license.  In August of 2008, I received my 5 year teaching license. As of May 2015, I earned a M. Ed. in  Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Richmond.

I am happily married to my husband of 29 years.  My sons are former CCPS students (A.M. Davis Elementary, Providence Middle School and Monacan High School).  I love my energetic students, awesome school and wonderful co-workers.  I am super excited about being named Teacher of the Year.
