Teacher of the Year

Congratulations Meredith Jordan!
Providence Middle School Teacher of the Year 2020
CCPS Middle School Teacher of the Year 2020

I am a product of Chesterfield County Public Schools having attending Gordon Elementary, Midlothian Middle, and Monacan High School. I received my Bachelor of Art degree in 2003 from Geneva College, where I majored in Secondary English Education. I returned to Chesterfield County after graduating from college and began teaching at Matoaca Middle School as a 7th grade English teacher. I transferred to Providence Middle School to teach 7th grade English in the Fall of 2008. I subsequently earned my National Board Certification in November of 2008 and my Masters of Science Degree as a Special Education Instructional Specialist in December of 2013.

In the fall of 2014, I transitioned from and English teacher to as Special Education teacher and took on the Success Program at Providence Middle School.  https://sites.google.com/ccpsnet.net/success/home In this position, I have had the great privilege of building a unique and comprehensive program, offering students not only academic skills but also job skills, social skills, and special Olympics opportunities. The renowned aspect of the Success Program is our school-based business, the Potato Bar.  https://youtu.be/G9otRaP4OlM

While building an innovate program, I have also focused on continued learning. I earned my EdS in Educational Leadership in May of 2017 and am not finishing up my EdD in Curriculum and Instruction. These experiences prepared me for my next professional feat.

Most recently, I have also had the opportunity to impact the whole school culture and success through my position as the 21st Century Grant Coordinator. https://sites.google.com/ccpsnet.net/pvms21centuryprogram/home The RAMpage program offers students homework help, academic support, enrichment activities, health and wellness activities, a snack and dinner, and transportation home Monday – Thursday. Additionally through this program, PVMS has been able to expose students to unique field trip experiences to places like Natural Bridge, the Frontier Museum, and the US Capitol.

None of these impactful accomplishments for the school would be possible without the support of my colleagues, many of whom are and will be life-long friends, and my family. I have been a foster/adopt parent since 2006 and cared for 4 children before marrying my husband in the October of 2014. He brought one son to our union, giving us a total of 5 children. Since then, we have add four more, now young adults, to our family. While I would say that our family is complete, I know that will depend on the needs of others around us and our capacity to help. I am grateful for my family, my colleagues, my students, and my school’s community for their support, push, and encouragement to grow and impact others.
