Computer Art

6th Grade:

The exploratory class is a nine week long class designed to give sixth grade students a taste of using digital media to create art.. Students will use Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 photo editing software to solve a series of artistic problems. They will gradually build learning and skills as they progress through the variety of tools present in the software.

In addition, we will spend time using the 3-D modeling software Google Sketchup. This will allow students to use math, geometry, and spatial reasoning skills to create artistic renderings.

Because the class is very software specific there is not a lot of homework, therefore students are expected to be in class on time and ready to work the entire class period.

Students will create a portfolio of work by posting their work to the online Childrens Art Museum Artsonia at www.artsonia.com/schools/school.asp?id=359
