Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965, reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, is the largest federal assistance program to our nation's schools. The funding flows from the US Department of Education through the VA Department of Education to Chesterfield County Public Schools. The program provides extra help to the students who need it the most. These are the children who are furthest from meeting the Virginia State Standards of Learning. The schools are determined by their percentage of poverty based on student's eligibility for free and reduced lunch. The schools are served in rank order beginning with the highest poverty schools.
