Teacher of the Year

Monica Van Arsdale is Monacan High School's Teacher of the Year for the 2015–16 school year. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing from Longwood University in 2007 and earned her teaching certification at University of Richmond. In 2007, she joined the Career and Technical Education department at Monacan and, during her time as a Chief, has taught Principles of Marketing, Marketing Co-op, Sports and Entertainment Marketing and Fashion Marketing. Currently Mrs. Van Arsdale teaches all levels of Economics and Personal Finance. While working at Monacan, she has served as JV Boy’s soccer coach, Indoor Track Coach, DECA Advisor, Monacan Women Sponsor, Junior Class Sponsor and she has even sold tickets at football games. Outside of school, Mrs. Van Arsdale works for Richmond Bridal Consulting and has been happily married for a little over a year. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, travelling, cooking and playing with her dog, Theodore Roosevelt.
