The Special Education Department of Midlothian Middle School acknowledges and supports the importance of individualizing all educational experiences by meeting the unique needs of every student. We adopt a “whole school approach” to special education and are committed to identifying and providing for the needs of all children in an inclusive environment to the greatest degree possible.

A continuum of services is offered; learning needs are met in small group or whole class contexts. The curriculum is differentiated to meet the needs of individual students. The school will actively seek the involvement of parents in the education of their children, which is particularly important for students with special education needs. Each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) team strives to create an IEP that will support students with special education needs and help them work toward achieving their individual goals.
