Chorus



Grade 6:  Beginning Chorus
  
Chorus 6 provides the opportunity for students to sing in a group and learn the fundamentals of reading music, producing good vocal tone, diction and choreography. Public performance is part of the grading process.
This class fosters skills which help students become better singers and appreciate the relationships among music, other arts, and society. Learning the art of singing and enjoying the enrichment in the classroom promote student achievement, positive self-esteem, a spirit of cooperation, stage presence and etiquette, and career awareness.
  
Grade 7:  Intermediate Chorus
  
This class provides an opprtunity to be a member of a large mixed chorus. Students in the class explore medium to difficult music, practice daily sight reading skills and learn to create choreography to music. Emphasis is placed on using proper vocal tone and singing three part music.
This class fosters skills which help students become better singers and appreciate the relationships among music, other arts, and society. Learning the art of singing and enjoying the enrichment in the classroom promote student achievement, positive self-esteem, a spirit of cooperation, stage presence and etiquette, and career awareness.
  
Grade 8:  Advanced Chorus

Students in the class explore medium to difficult music, practice daily sight reading skills and learn to create choreography to music. Emphasis is placed on using proper vocal tone and singing three part music.
This class fosters skills which help students become better singers and appreciate the relationships among music, other arts, and society. Learning the art of singing and enjoying the enrichment in the classroom promote student achievement, positive self-esteem, a spirit of cooperation, stage presence and etiquette, and career awareness.
Performances are mandatory and are a part of the overall grading process. Special attire is required for performances.
