Principal's Weekly Message

October 22, 2019

Greetings, Midlothian Community. This is your principal, Shawn Abel, with your weekly message.

I hope everyone is enjoying this fall weather as much me.

Our school counseling department, in coordination with CCPS Mental Health, will continue to provide our 10th grade students with a Signs of Suicide program this week. This program aims to help students recognize areas of concern which may lead to unhealthy anxiety, depression, or even suicide. To ensure we provide our students with the proper support, we must flip periods 2 and 4 on October 23rd and 24th. The schedule will be 1, MM, 4, 3, 2 on those two days only.

Students who normally leave school early after 3rd period will be required to remain at school all day. Students are to report to the library during 4th period on those two days

Attention Junior and Senior students -

Please see the attached document to learn more about an upcoming 2019 College Fair hosted by CCPS. Check out how many college representatives will be on site - don’t miss this awesome opportunity to learn more about what the different schools have to offer.

Midlothian High School will team with Caron Treatment Center of Richmond to provide our parents and students with a one hour information session on the dangers and supports related to drug and tobacco use. PREP (Prevention Resources and Education for Parents) is a program designed for parents and caregivers of high school students that discusses current youth drug trends and how parents can communicate with their children about these issues to help reduce the likelihood of risky behavior.

The program will occur in our school library this Thursday, October 24th, beginning at 6:00pm. See the attached flier for more details.
