Morning Announcements 3-12-18

March 12, 2018

On this day in 1933, eight days after his inauguration, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gives his first national radio address or “fireside chat,” broadcast directly from the White House.  At the time, the U.S. was at the lowest point of the Great Depression, with between 25 and 33 percent of the workforce unemployed. The nation was worried, and Roosevelt’s address was designed to ease fears and to inspire confidence in his leadership. Roosevelt went on to deliver 30 more of these broadcasts between March 1933 and June 1944. They reached an astonishing number of American households, 90 percent of which owned a radio at the time.  How will you contribute to history? Make it a great day… or not. The choice is yours?

Today’s MM is 2E.

Tomorrow will be 0.

This Wednesday night come on out to Moe’s between 4-8 to help support your Trojan Football Team. Part of the cost of your meal will go towards the football program.

Students, if you are interested in purchasing a “Midlo” t shirt from Coach Cooper, please stop by room 212 and see him today. He is selling short sleeve navy t shirts for $5.00 and long sleeve white t shirts for $7.00.

Congratulations to the Trojan Band for receiving Superior Ratings from all four judges at the VBODA District 3 State Concert Band Assessment on Saturday at LC Bird High School.  This Superior Rating combined with the Superior the Trojan Marching Band received in October add up to equal Midlothian High School’s Twentieth recognition as a Commonwealth of Virginia Honor Band.

Congratulations also go to the entire Midlothian High School Music Department.  Band, Chorus, and Orchestra all received Superior Ratings at their Performance Assessments this year, so Midlothian High School will be recognized as a VMEA Blue Ribbon School for Music for the ninth year.
