9th Grade Academy

Meadowbrook High School's 9th Grade Academy is a transition program for freshmen. There are several goals of this program. The first goal is for all ninth grade students to smoothly adapt to high school through a collegial approach to student learning. The 9th grade students have most of their core classes on the 800 hall which allows for more effective teacher collaboration. This also allows students easy access to both their administrators and their counselors as they are all located in the 800 suite. The second goal of the program is for students to develop a sense of belonging to the Meadowbrook community. Therefore the academy has upperclassmen mentors who sponsor activities such as freshman orientation, a football tailgate, extra-curricular activity fair, positive referral ice-cream parties and community service activities. We encourage all freshmen to complete 20 hours of community service and those students who achieve this and turn in their documented hours are honored at the end of year awards banquet.
