This week, 11th grade students will be taking their Reading 11 SOL tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. To help ensure that students are prepared to test, here are a few testing tips to review with your students.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will receive course selection sheets that they will complete over a two day period with selection sheet pick up at the end of the day on Wednesday with a special 1st period to be held at the end of the day.
This is a slightly different process for our students this year in that now your student will have the opportunity to discuss their course selections with both their teachers and you to ensure that you may plan for the cost of fees associated with certain elective courses and to ensure that our students are knowledgeable about their options and have a reflective conversation with their teachers about their goals for the future and how to achieve them.
You will also notice that for your planning purposes, the fee amounts for certain course now appears on the sheet to guide you in planning for courses that have fees.
On Tuesday, please dialogue with your students about their options and the fees associated with certain courses. More importantly, we need your help to ensure that students turn in their course selection form so that you student will receive the best scheduling experience possible. As always, please speak with your students school counselor or administrator if you have questions.
Exams will take place this week starting on Tuesday. Exam early dismissal starts on Tuesday through Friday will be 11:25am. The exam schedule is attached to this message. This is just a reminder that students should not be on campus or at the middle or elementary school campuses after early dismissal.
On November 30th, from 7:45am to 9:00am, the counseling team will host an Alternative Education Awareness event for students who are attending school but continue to experience difficulties earning the credits required for their high school diploma. If your student is feeling "stuck" about school or their future, this event will provide an abundance of information and resources to help him/her moving forward toward completing their education. We invite all parents to attend and we will raffle prizes!" We hope to see you there.
