College Readiness Summer Camp (July 17-18)

Summer College Readiness Program (formerly called AP Boot Camp) is a FREE opportunity to first time AP students. This will be a 2 day event on July 17-18 at Clover Hill High School from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm (so students will still have time to enjoy the summer sun). The program offers students an opportunity to understand and analyze AP level reading, visual analysis and analytical thinking, anxiety/stress management and project planning and teamwork. Employment Opportunity with 21st Century Grant Program

The 21st Century Grant Program at Harrowgate Elementary School is seeking interested high school students (juniors and senior) for an after-school enrichment program for 2nd to 5th grade students. Sessions run Monday through Thursday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. and pays $8.00 an hour. The program has several clubs and each club will have only 10 students. High school students can earn up to $576 for facilitating or mentoring a club for one 9 week session. The program does not meet on early release days or when after-school activities are cancelled due to inclement weather.

Matoaca High School Yearbook receives Superior Rating from VHSL

Matoaca High School’s yearbook program was recently awarded an overall rating of Superior and the overall ranking of Trophy Class by the Virginia High School League in their Evaluative Critique. 

The Arrow yearbook staffers, along with their adviser Nicole Eshelman, were pleased to learn that they received Superior ratings in the areas of Theme/Concept, Design, and Photography and Excellent in the areas of Coverage and Writing.

Editor-in-Chief of last year’s yearbook, Katie Robbins, was also Matoaca’s Student of the Year and currently attends the University of Virginia where she works on the UVA yearbook, Corks & Curls. “I’m so proud of last year’s amazing staff, and I can’t wait to see what this year’s staff comes up with,” said Robbins.

Kroger Community Rewards Program 

Help raise money for Matoaca High School’s athletic programs by using your Kroger Plus Card. This program will help support many programs here at Matoaca High School.

If you do not currently have a Kroger Plus card, they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger store. Also, if you use your phone number instead of the card at the register, please call 800-576-4377 to get your Kroger Plus card number. When enrolling you may opt to use an alternate number which may be your 10 digit phone number. Just make sure that when you shop at Kroger that you use whichever you have linked to Matoaca High School.

Listed below are the instructions to register your Kroger Plus card. If you have any questions please contact Susanne Carmichael at susanne09112@yahoo.com

1. Sign on to www.kroger.com/communityrewards 

2. Create an account:
  • Enter email address 
  • Enter password 
  • Select preferred store 
  • Add Kroger Plus card to account 
  • Under Account Summary, go to Community Rewards and click ENROLL 
  • Enter our organization’s number, 80866, or use the look up feature and click Matoaca High School Athletic Booster Club 
  • Click ENROLL 
You should see Matoaca High School Athletic Booster Club on the right side of your information page. Remember purchases will not count until your card is registered. So, register today because the program for the 2015-2016 school year is still active for last year’s enrollment. You will need to re-enroll or confirm that you are still active for our number (808866) to your card for the 2016-2017 school year.
