Our Year in Kindergarten
Kindergarten at Hening is a hands-on, fun filled adventure! We provide an environment that builds a strong foundation for each child's academic, social, and emotional future.

Language & Literacy
This includes learning skills in oral language, reading, and writing. In oral language we learn to recognize patterns and rhyme and we share our thoughts and ideas. We learn a whole lot about letters! Not only their names and sounds, but how to to blend sounds and dissect and spell words. We will become readers and writers along the way! When we are done, we will be able to recognize and use sight words while we read and write.

We explore shapes, patterns, the calendar, counting things, counting aloud to 100 and backwards from 30, not to forget learning about time, measurement, money and graphing.

We will learn about the world around us using our 5 senses, asking questions and problem solving. We will enjoy learning about life cycles, magnets, water and shadows, to name a few.

Social Studies
We will learn about being good citizens, special holidays, maps, jobs and famous people like...the President of the United States, George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr and many others.

And through it all, we will make connections with our world, enhance our fine and gross motor skills, and engage in problem solving as we work in teams and engage in independent learning.
