Summer Reading Information!

Summer break is almost here! We hope everyone has plans to relax, hang out with friends and family, and of course – READ!

Your child’s teacher will be sending home a yellow summer reading log. This log is filled with fun activities to keep kids excited about reading and writing all summer long! The goal is to fill 15 of the boxes on the reading log with choices from the list on the back. Students who return a reading log with 15 completed boxes will earn a bracelet for extra library checkouts all year long and one ticket for our prize raffle.

Students also have the chance to earn up to 5 extra tickets for the prize raffle by completing the special boxes on the reading log. Prizes will include tickets to various Richmond area businesses, books, and much more!

We have two special Gordon reading nights planned this summer! Join us at the North Courthouse Library on June 28th and July 27th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. We will have snacks, prizes, and activities. You can also check out a book and see your friends! Be sure to have a teacher or librarian initial the reading log to get an extra ticket to the raffle!

New for this year, we’ve added some magnets to the back of the reading log. We hope you use these magnets to hang the reading log in a special place to remind your family to keep on reading all summer long! You can also find the reading log on Gordon’s website under the announcements section.

Reading over the summer is incredibly important for students and their academic achievement. Thanks for encouraging your child to read all summer long and helping them have a successful start to school next year!

Rising Kindergarten Students

Rising kindergarten students - We didn't have the summer library dates ready when you got your reading logs in April, but you are still welcome to join us at the North Courthouse Library on June 28th and July 27th!
