Running Club

We will run, jog or walk on WEDNESDAYS and FRIDAYS. Running Club will begin each morning at 8:40 am and will go to 9:15 am. Please read the information below and send the signed portion of the form and return to the school office or bring to running club. 

1.) Running will begin promptly at 8:40 am with a warm up on the black top. Children should be dropped off no earlier than at 8:30 a.m. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD WALK ACROSS THE ROAD UNACCOMPANIED. We will have a parent/teacher helping the children unload. Drop off is by the curb at the end of parent pickup near the baseball field. 

2.) Running Club will meet every designated day unless cancelled due to weather. We will not run if the weather is 35 degrees or below, or due to wet field conditions (usually no running club December-February). All communication will take place through the PTboard. Please make sure you sign up at http://gordon.ptboard.com. Once you have signed up for PTboard you will need to join Running Club within our school's PTboard page. We will notify via PTboard by 7:50 a.m. if Running Club is cancelled. 

3.) All grades K-5th will run, jog or walk 1 mile around the football field. They will get credit for each mile they complete. Their miles accumulate through the entire time while at Gordon. Members earn ribbons at these mile markers: 15, 25, 50, 75 then trophies at 100, 125, 150 etc! 

Running Club is open to the entire school and is a PTA run program, relying on parent support. We would like a minimum of 4 parent volunteers each day to make the club run smoothly. These volunteers will mainly be needed to check in the runners and monitor drop-off and the run. We appreciate the help and support for our students.
