MAP Growth Testing

NWEA MAP Growth Testing

MAP® Growth™ tests from NWEA® are adaptive tests taken on a Chromebook or desktop computer. These tests determine students’ instructional level and measure their academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Reading and Mathematics.

Adaptive tests become more difficult when students answer a question correctly. When they answered a question incorrectly, the test becomes easier. The information presented on the MAP Growth test is aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning curriculum; therefore, it is the same information that students are exposed to in school. What distinguishes the MAP tests from SOL tests is that they are administered three times throughout the school year (fall, winter, spring) which allows us to adjust instruction and provide targeted interventions based on students’ academic needs.
