Exceptional Education

At Falling Creek Elementary a continuum of services is provided to meet individual needs.  Both general education and exceptional education teachers work with parents to develop and implement IEPs (Individual Education Plans) that support the learning needs of students with disabilities.

Falling Creek Elementary currently houses a program for students with autism who are working on the Alternative Standards of Learning.  There is also a program at Falling Creek for students with emotional disabilities and for students with mild intellectual disabilities.  Students are also supported in the general education setting utilizing both collaborative teaching, where both a general education and special education teacher work together to provide instruction with the whole class and through small group instruction.

Students who are found eligible receive services from our Speech and Language Pathologist and Occupational Therapist as well.  We work closely with the Assistive Technology department to improve access to communication and learning for all students in exceptional education.
