Teacher of the Year

   Mrs. Maria MacLaughlin
Our 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year

Mrs. MacLaughlin is a seasoned Chesterfield County teacher. She has a Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision with endorsements in Gifted Education, Elementary Education, Technology and Administration and Supervision. She is a legitimately- published author. In addition, she has written and produced over 30 plays which have been performed at museums and other venues targeting young audiences. Her most current involvement is in the production of a Revolutionary War era film. Twenty Years ago, Mrs. MacLaughlin and her husband founded Limelight Talent, a performing arts school dedicated to advancing opportunities for talented students. Using their performing arts connections has made it possible for local youth to perform in TV commercials, movies, onstage, and on Broadway.

Mrs. MacLaughlin is a member of the New Teacher Induction Program Advisory Board for CCPS. She is also a clinical Faculty Assessor for the Virginia Commonwealth University. In the time that she has been at Ettrick, she has made significant contributions. She is a member of the Report Card (RC for Life) Committee for the CCPS, Lead Social Studies teacher, Team Leader, Public Relations Chair and Senior Chesterfield Education Association Building Representative, and Summer School Site Coordinator.

Mrs. MacLaughlin is happily married to her husband, Matthew, a 3-time Teacher of the Year. She and her husband have three remarkable sons, four adorable grandsons, and two beautiful daughters-in-law.

In her opinion, she is blessed to be at Ettrick Elementary, the hardest working school in Chesterfield County.
