I’m very excited to be part of the fantastic staff here at Evergreen Elementary School. It’s truly an honor to be a part of such a fantastic school. Great things happen here on a daily basis. This year marks my 20th year in public education and my 5th here at Evergreen. I spent my first 9 years as a teacher and Assistant Principal with Richmond Public Schools. I came to Chesterfield in 2005 as the Associate Principal at Hening Elementary School where I served as principal until July of 2011.
I’m also a proud product of the CCPS system, graduating from Meadowbrook High School back in 1986. I live in the Evergreen school district; both of my children attended Evergreen; my youngest just finished her time at Evergreen and is off to middle school this year. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, a Masters in Teaching, and a post graduate administration certification, all from VCU. Go Rams!
My goals for the students of Evergreen center on preparing them for their future. During these crucial formative years of their education it is important that we teach them to think and problem solve well beyond the standardized tests. We will push every student to reach his/her potential on a daily basis, while also making school a fun and happy experience for them!
I will continue working closely with the families of Evergreen and work to build strong relationships within our community. Together we will do great things!
Evergreen has been my home for over 15 years. I first became involved in the Evergreen community as a parent when my husband Steve and I moved our family to Midlothian from Massachusetts in 1997. In 2001 I accepted a position teaching Special Education at Evergreen. I completed my Masters in Administration and Supervision in 2008 and was thrilled to be offered the opportunity to continue at Evergreen in a leadership position as Assistant Principal. Evergreen is family to me!
Community is what Evergreen is all about. Dedicated staff, enthusiastic families, a hard working student body, and exceptional community support combine to make Evergreen a great environment for student learning. It is what first attracted me as a parent and continues to impress me as an administrator.
I am extremely excited to continue serving the Evergreen community as your Administrative Assistant. Over the past 12 years it has been a pleasure working with students and families in the classroom setting, and I will miss this intimate daily interaction. I promise to continue to serve with the same integrity and passion in my new role and look forward to getting to know many more families!
As a lifelong learner, I am currently completing my Educational Leadership degree at the University of Richmond (U of R). I am an original graduate of James Madison University where I earned my Bachelors of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems. Shortly thereafter I earned my Masters of Business Administration from U of R. When deciding to switch careers, I returned to U of R to earn my Certificate in Elementary Instruction. One of the most valuable learning experiences I had while teaching was becoming a National Board Certified Teacher. Needless to say, I love learning and want the students to love their learning as well!
In my free time I stay busy serving and enjoying my family! I have a wonderfully supportive husband Paul and 3 children. We love attending Savannah's soccer games at UNCW, cheering on the Hokies with Michael during football season, and watching Allison cheer for her James River Rapids.
I am looking forward to another fantastic year here with my Evergreen family!
