History of Elizabeth Davis Middle

Elizabeth B. Davis Middle School opened in September of 2008.  Those who knew Elizabeth Davis well, including her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, friends and other family members were among the guests at the dedication ceremony and reception on October 11 of the same year. It was fitting that the school be named for her.  She served as chairperson of the Chesterfield County School Board, the president of the Virginia School Board Association, a member of the Board of Visitors of her alma mater Radford University and director of the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School.

In just a few short years, our school has grown from a student body of 750 to one of more than a thousand.  In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum and an outstanding electives and physical education program, Elizabeth Davis Middle School was established with a green program for environmental sustainability and an emphasis on the Chesapeake Bay.
