Joshua P. Cole, Ph.D.

I am thrilled to be serving as the Principal of Ecoff Elementary School. We are a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) school devoted to student learning with an emphasis on math and literacy.  My past eight years at Ecoff have been wonderful and I am very excited about what the upcoming school year has in store for our community, teachers, parents, and students. I am originally from Michigan where I attended Central Michigan University and received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After student teaching in Perth, Australia I began my career as a teacher in Detroit Public Schools and attended Wayne State University, where I received my Master's degree in Administration. After moving to Virginia, I began teaching in Chesterfield at Chalkley Elementary School and later became the Assistant Principal at Hening Elementary School. During that time, I received my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. As the Principal of Ecoff Elementary, I look forward to working with everyone to help support our students' learning. Please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way. Have a great school year!

I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal for the 8th year at Ecoff Elementary School. I look forward to what each new school year brings and I love watching students grow! I grew up in Ohio and attended Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Special Education. After graduating, I was an Early Childhood Educational Specialist for Early Head Start in Inner-City Cleveland. When I first arrived in Virginia, I taught students with disabilities at Prince George High School. I knew then I had to return to my true passion, elementary-aged students! In 2000, I began my career in Chesterfield County at A.M. Davis Elementary, again teaching students with disabilities (K-5). While at A.M. Davis, I also taught students in grades 3 & 5, as well as earned a Post-Master's in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to coming to Ecoff Elementary, I served as the Assistant Principal at Bensley Elementary. I am grateful for the many experiences I have had, and look forward to many more! Please let me know how I can best support you, your child, or your family!
