Girls Who Code

Come Learn to Code and Change the World!

Join Ecoff’s Girls Who Code Club!

What is a Girls Who Code Club?

Girls Who Code is a National Program that is designed to enrich girls to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models, and use computer science to change the world! Through fun and interactive curricula, club girls not only learn how to positively impact their community through code, but they are also taught to be brave and resilient- which has an enormous impact on how they approach challenges and whether they stick with coding in the years to come.

What happens during a club meeting?

In a girls who code club, girls are able to learn from fun and simple online coding tutorials, building community through interactive activities, and learn about inspiring role models. They then work in teams to design and build a Girls Who Code project that solves real world problems they care about through coding.

Who can join?

The club is FREE and open to all girls in grades 3-5. Whether you are a beginner or a computer master, you’re invited to join the movement. Meetings will be held at Ecoff Elementary before school 8:00-9:00 in the STEAM lab. Girls will meet on every Thursday from April 18th- May 16th. If your child is interested in participating, an adult needs to complete the following steps on the online application:

· Go to https://hq.girlswhocode.com/ and click on "Sign Up"

· Enter United States, your date of birth (child's DOB), and select "I want to join a club as a club member"

· Complete all the required fields and click on "Continue"

· Complete the Parent/Guardian Information

· Once signed in, click on the "Join Your Club" button

· Enter your Club Code (VA13276) and complete the application form

Each girl will receive a nonfiction activity booklet that is theirs to keep. In addition, girls will get to explore online coding activities and using robotics. Girls who participate in the club will also get to meet the Director of Insider Threat at the GE facility in Richmond. Deadline to sign up has been extended to Friday, March 22nd. Please register as soon as possible!
