Battle of the Books

What is B.O.B.?

Battle of the Books is a reading competition for 5th graders!

Who can participate?  Any 5th grader who reads at least 10 books or more from the BOB reading list by January 31st.  Summaries will need to be completed for these books and can be turned into the library.

                           Fiction Summary Sheet
                           Nonfiction Summary Sheet

When are the practices?  All students who qualify will get to participate in 6 practices during school hours in February and March.  Students will get to use buzzers to answer questions from the books on the BOB reading list in a game show format.

Will there be any competitions?  Yes!  A school competition will take place in March in the school cafe.  Students on the BOB team will be divided into 3 teams and compete using game show buzzers in front of the 4th and 5th grade classes.

A county competition will take place in April between Ecoff and 2 other Chesterfield County schools.  The competition will take place at one of the participating schools, which sometimes provides us with a field trip opportunity!

What are some other fun reasons to join the team?  Not only will you get to meet new friends, but you will also get your own t-shirt and get to join us for a pizza party at the end of the BOB season!
