What is Chesterfield Career and Technical Center?
CCTC is an extension of Chesterfield’s high schools, offering three-credit courses that are not offered at the home schools.

Courthouse Campus:  10101 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, Virginia 23832

Hull Street Campus:    13900 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23112

How do students enroll in a CCTC course?
Application for admittance to a CTC course is made through the home school counselor during second semester each year.  Students are selected based on grades, attendance, an acceptable behavior record, successful completion of prerequisite courses, teachers’ comments verifying the student’s ability to work independently in unstructured settings, a counselor’s evaluation, and standardized test scores.

In what grade(s) do students attend CCTC?
Each year, approximately 800 juniors, 750 seniors, and 50 postgraduates attend CCTC.

What periods do students attend CCTC?
CCTC operates on an alternate-day schedule that is compatible with the high schools’ timetable.  Students are bused to CCTC after their first period for periods 2, 3, and 4 on odd or even calendar days.

What is the cost for a CCTC course?

There is no tuition charge for high school students ($600 per year for postgraduates).  The cost of personal tools, uniforms, and fees varies by course and is paid by the student.

Will a CCTC course help a student obtain a job?

CCTC provides students with occupational skills and essential 21st century workplace readiness skills (technical writing, computer applications, critical thinking, problem solving, teaming, etc.).  Applicants with these skills are well prepared for the job market.

Can a student take a CCTC course and then go on to college?

Colleges are always interested in students who have “tried on” a career because these students are more likely to be goal oriented and, therefore, more successful.  The majority of CCTC students further their education at technical/trade schools, community colleges, and/or four-year colleges.
