SUMMER CAMP

This summer camp is designed to provide CCPS rising 8th and 9th graders an opportunity to experience a career field. Campers can select from seven career fields. The camp will provide hands-on experience and career information.

Dates: June 19-29, 2017 Monday - Thursday Time: 8:00 - 12:00 noon

Students should select ONE of the following career fields (Seats are limited and subject to minimum enrollment requirements)

1. Automotive - Explore careers in the automotive industry. Hands-on experience in automotive technology and collision.

2. Construction Trades - Explore careers in construction, including electricity, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and learn introductory hands-on skills in wall layout, framing, electrical safety, small circuits, shop safety, brazing, and the refrigeration cycle. A field trip to a power plant is included.

3. Cosmetology - Explore careers in cosmetology and nail technology.

4. Fire Fighting - Explore careers in Fire Service and Emergency Medical Care.

5. Information Technology (IT) - Explore careers in IT field, to include computer assembly, databases and visual media applications. A field trip is offered for this career field.

6. Medical - Explore careers in the medical field, including dental, nursing and medical biotechnology and learn introductory hands-on skills in first aid, medical asepsis, dental care, dental lab procedures, and investigative laboratory procedures.

7. Veterinary - Explore proper animal care and grooming techniques for small animals. (This is a one-week course only from June 19-22, 2017.
