Thelma Crenshaw Elementary School opened in 1987 to serve the growing population along Bailey Bridge, Claypoint, Genito and Hull Street Roads. Named after a long-time Chesterfield County Public Schools teacher and administrator, Mrs. Thelma Crenshaw attended school on opening day and made frequent appearances at school events.

The school celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2012 and continues to provide educational services to pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students.
