To obtain the application and recommendation forms follow this link: http://mychesterfieldschools.com/schools/specialty-centers/, click on the Specialty Centers tab and then scroll down to Admissions Documents (please note that a statement of interest is no longer required). Students interested in applying should inform their middle school counselor, who will forward transcripts and recommendations to our office. Chesterfield County middle school counselor’s offices also have all the necessary forms.

Open House

For potential applicants and their parents or guardians, the faculty and staff have planned an Open House at The Math & Science High School at Clover Hill High School in October. A presentation will be held in the auditorium. Current students will be available to answer questions about student life. This is your best opportunity to gather information about our school.


  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • Must have completed Algebra 1 by the end of the eighth grade school year.
  • Must reside in the Chesterfield County School District
  • Must complete and return application by the deadline
  • Must agree to the following program requirements:
    • Minimum of 28 credits
    • Complete Math/Sci core classes in their sequence (World History 1 & 2 [MS209, MS210]; English 9, 10 & M/S AP Eng Lit [MS109, MS110, MS113]; Biology, Chemistry & M/S AP Physics 1 [MS430, MS440, MS555]; Integrated Pre-calculus 1, 2 & 3/Math Modeling [MS316, MS317, MS318/MS328] or Advanced Integrated Pre-calculus 1 & 2/Math Modeling [MS322, MS323/MS328])
    • One research or technology credit
    • One fine arts credit

Admissions Criteria

A local admissions committee will consider the following criteria in making admissions decisions:

  • Proper math placement entering the program
  • Middle school grades
  • Admissions test scores
  • Strong application, demonstrating leadership, community service, participation in activities, awards and other interests
  • A confidential recommendation from an eighth grade math or science teacher
  • A second confidential recommendation from a middle school academic teacher

Admissions Testing

An admissions test will be administered in January at Clover Hill High School. Information will be sent to applicants with directions, inclement weather procedures, and make-up dates. If there are any special services needed for testing, please call the Math & Science School Office at Clover Hill High School.

The admissions test consists of three assessments: reading comprehension, math, and writing. We do NOT expect you to study or prepare in any way for the test.

October 22, 2018 - 6:30 pm Information Meeting/Open House begins in the auditorium

November 30, 2018 - Application Deadline (Applications are submitted to your middle school counselor)

January 28, 2019 – 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Admissions Testing at Clover Hill High School

February 4, 2019 – 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Admissions Testing Snow Date

February 11, 2019 - 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Alternate Admissions Testing
This alternate testing day is provided for those students with religious conflicts and other extenuating circumstances.

March 8, 2019 - Admissions Notification Letters mailed to Students

March 22, 2019 - Postmark Deadline for Accepted Students' Letter of Intent
