1st Grade

First Grade presents many challenging opportunities for our students!

Our first graders are exposed to more reading and writing activities that will prepare them to be independent learners. In math, students learn concepts about number sense, addition and subtraction, units of measurement, money, estimation and problem-solving. In science, students investigate weather, rocks, soil and fossils, sound, matter, heat and living organisms. In social studies, students will study concepts about citizenship with emphasis on the American flag, symbols of our country, American leaders and holidays, along with how to interpert simple maps and exposure to economic concepts.
