Book Swap

Bensley Book Swap reading incentive program began in the summer of 2013. Donated books from local communities and a remaining box of Reading is Fundamental (RIF) books were sorted by grade level and displayed on tables for students to view. Students have opportunities to bring a book from home and swap it for another. By allowing students to swap a book each week, students were able to choose books that reflected their interests and increased the variety of reading options.

Each grade level is assigned a certain day -- kindergarten and first graders attend on Wednesdays, second and third graders on Thursdays, and 4th/5th graders on Fridays.

During our summer school program, students participate in book swap every Wednesday between the hours of 9:30-10:15 a.m. Students not attending summer school also have the opportunity to participate in the book swap.
